Don Dusselier and Leonard Marks grew up on neighboring farms, were fraternity brothers at the same university, and in 1989 formed Dusselier and Marks Homes, which has become one of the most successful home building companies in Kansas.
Dusselier and Marks Homes, Inc. is currently constructing exceptional homes at Biltmore Farms in Springhill, KS, Granite Falls in Shawnee, KS, and Wilshire Farms in Overland Park, KS. In the past, discerning clients have enjoyed their homes in Nottingham by the Green, Copper Creek, Wilshire Place, Cedar Creek, Links of Lionsgate, Whitehorse, Nottingham Estates at St. Andrews, and several other fine neighborhoods.
When asked why their homes are viewed as a cut above, they mention attention to detail and personal supervision. This comes from their involvement with every phase of the building process. “The housing industry and building products change each year, so by
personally inspecting each task we see how individual products work for our clients. We pay attention to each detail and keep up on trends and innovations,” states Don Dusselier. He continues, “The most important ingredient for delivering a quality product is personal supervision. We are in the homes every day. We sincerely care that the home is being constructed correctly, and each of our subcontractors know that we care.”

Another emphasis is contact with the home buyer. “It gives our clients peace of mind to know that we are available to answer their questions and help them through the process. We answer call backs personally, and we emphasize an open line of communication,” says Leonard. “We do not depend on superintendants. We are on the jobsite every day.”
Leonard grew up in the home building business. His father was a builder in the Kansas City area for over thirty years. Leonard says, “I actually had a behind-the-desk job as an industrial engineer in Kentucky. My wife worked for a builder, and I realized I was paying more attention to her job than to mine, so I came back and joined my dad in the home building business.”
Don also came to the industry through a family business. “My father had concrete construction companies. I started out working for him each summer from the time I was 14, and then later, full time. Leonard was building with his dad, who was nearing retirement and slowing down. When his dad retired, Leonard and I became partners.
Dusselier and Marks Homes, Inc has been the recipient of numerous HBA awards over the years. Their homes have earned the Pick of the Parade Award, Distinctive Plan and Design Award and the American Dream Award on several occasions.
